Framingham is a diverse community located 20 miles west of Boston. Framingham offers excellent public services and a well-respected school system. A Town Manager/Board of Selectmen executive branch governs the town, with a representative Town Meeting serving as the legislative branch. At nearly 67,000 inhabitants we are the largest Town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We are the home to several major corporations including Bose Corporation, Staples, Lifeline, Natural Microsystems, Perini and TJX. We have a wide range of housing opportunities and a large retail base for residents to enjoy.
Customer service is a priority of our town. There are many convenient email links that will put you in immediate contact with town officials. We have also recently added a new inquiry capability that enables users to query property information from our "live" assessing data base and permits information from our "live" permits and licenses data base. These new applications can be accessed directly from the issuing department's web page or via the online services tab on the home page. Our permits and licensing data base includes building permits dating back to 1946. In addition to permits issued by the Building Department, there are several other types available including Fire, Conservation, Food permits, Dog Licenses, Business Certificates and Street Openings. Queries can be made by permit #, owner, contractor and location.
